Cobra King F8 Driver Review – An Honest Opinion

Today, we’re going to be reviewing the Cobra King F8 driver and I’ll be sharing my honest thoughts after testing out this club. The F8 Fairway Wood was a wood I used to swing before and I expect it to perform well. How did it compare?

Although it wasn’t my favorite driver anywhere in the world it did a good job and I would recommend it to others. This was not my preferred looking driver. It is heavier and, for some reason, my Callaway driver still looks better than these newer ones. In my opinion the F8 performed better than F7. It also had better forgiveness when hitting off-center shots. As with the Callaway clubs, it was super simple to correctly align the ball. It made a great impact sound and was solid. This version also has a much higher launch angle, which is cool. Overall I recommend the F8 driver.

If you find this information helpful, great! For a deeper look at the driver’s performance, you can view the video above or check out the blog post.

Cobra F8 Driver Review

Dominic Choma, Club Fitter The new F8+ and F8+ Cobra drivers are different than any other. CNC milling grooves are found on both the F8+ and F8+ clubfaces. CNC milling processes are different for every F8+ drivers than hand polishing. This CNC milling process does more than make the club cool. The F8 line has unique advantages, including increased performance and better manufacturing tolerances.

The CNC milling technology allows Cobra make the clubface smaller for better performance. The clubface that is thinner will reflect more energy at impact. This will result in faster ball speeds, particularly on mishits. What this means is that the golfer will see more distance on shots hit on different parts of the clubface, whether it be off the toe, heel, high, and low. Golfers will notice a difference on the green, with many players not being able to hit it perfectly. Another benefit in having a thinner clubface is that a thinner clubface will weigh less than a thicker clubface. In order to improve forgiveness and performance, it is possible to remove some weight from your clubface. The weight of most clubs will usually be located near the back, making the clubhead less stable and more accommodating to mis-hits.

CNC Milling is more accurate than hand polishing. The F8 series has tighter manufacturing tolerances that drivers from other brands. In other words: F8 drivers will produce more identical clubheads to those of another brand. An F8 driver will provide more stability and assurance for the golfer.

Although all this is great information, most club members want to know the results. For this test, I used both the F8 and F8+ clubheads set at the 9.5 degree setting, with the Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei Blue 70 X Flex Shaft that I use in my current gamer. I tested both clubheads in both weight settings that are offered in order to see the differences between the settings. You will notice a quick change in my swing speed after I started the SuperSpeed Speed training program and a swing modification. Aside from my launch conditions I am able to launch the ball lower, and with slightly faster spin rates, on average. Comparing this year’s test numbers to those from last years, I can see the F8 driver has a significant impact on the clubhead and ball speeds.
