If you are looking for a durable drill to withstand constant abuse, then a heavier-duty one might be the best choice.

REVIEW – Most people have spent their whole lives with corded or gasoline lawnmowers. I had infamously bad gas lawnmowers when I was a kid, where you had to yank the starter cord 10 or more times with all your kid-strength to get it going, then you had the hassle of mixing gasoline and oil for the 2-stroke engine, plus maintenance and breakdowns and running out of gas. I changed from my gas mower several years ago to an electric corded mower. This made it much simpler to maintain and start the mower. We are now entering an electric era thanks to new battery technology from Greenworks and other products. They sent over their 2 x 24V (48V) 17” Brushless Lawn Mower to review, so I put it through the paces (in a sweltering heat wave and drought here in the American West). Overall it was easy to setup and use, and I’m happy to report that it’s much better than the dreaded gas mower of my childhood!

They sent an additional package with a 24-V screwdriver/drill. I will include my thoughts below.

Greenworks 2x24V 48V 17’’ Brushless Lawnmower is a cordless, battery-powered electric mower. You can use it as a lightweight mower, with or without a bag. Or, you can simply plug it into your garden and put the trimmings back in.

My interest in the dual 24V configuration is great. Greenworks previously had tools that were lower voltage (20/40/etc.). This was to be able to provide different functions. The standard 24-volt pack can power some tools up to 48 volts. This gives the user more options and allows them to be combined. A single charger and set of batteries can power over 75 different tools (and counting), though this number includes many duplicates like 10 different lawnmower models. It seems that their range includes at least one model each of the power tools I would use most often, plus a variety of exotic choices (such as a Toddler Jeep Ride-On!).

What I’D Change

A narrower cutting width allows for more passes

Shopping for small clippings in a bag can mean frequent stops to empty

Storage doesn’t have a vertical balance

The Greenworks 2 x 24V (48V) 17” Brushless Lawn Mower that was sent to me for review included a Greenworks 24V drill/screwdriver as a bonus. The Greenworks 24V drill/screwdriver was used repeatedly during the review. Though the Greenworks 24V drill felt lighter, it seemed significantly more powerful and was able to apply more torque than my usual drill. It worked more efficiently than my corded drill when I needed torque. It has an adjustable keyless chuck (you tighten/loosen the rings near the front to install/remove a drill bit or the included flathead/Phillips screwdriver head). Adjustable torque settings allow you to not tighten screws too tightly.

Lowes and Home Depot were both open during the review and I was able to peruse their gas mowers as a reference point. A standard mower cost about $200 in my local area. Although they had wider cutting paths and were more expensive than the Greenworks, the mowers were still heavier. My opinion is that electric mowers are more cost-effective if you have other Greenworks tools. This includes trimmers, blowers, power tools and so on. Greenworks products that do not include batteries are often cheaper than comparable gas models. As an example, $190 was the lowest-priced gas trimmer available at the shop. On Amazon however, it cost $40 for a similar-sized Greenworks trimmer. This is because you will be starting out with the same mower as 2 large capacity batteries. The Greenworks 2 x 48V (17” Brushless Lawn Mower) was a simple and effective mower that I enjoyed using for weeks.
