Is The New ‘Manscaped’ Body Groomer From Shark Tank The Best One Yet?
Our intrepid writer tried the buzzy trimmer for ‘downstairs’ grooming to find out.

While I am not certain when “manscape” was first mentioned to me, it is an expression that means to trim or groom a man’s hair. Urban Dictionary’s definition of this term dates back to 2003. Reviewed also asked me for my opinion on products made by Manscaped, a brand that was popularized by Shark Tank Instagram. Manscape’s goal is to “be the global leader in grooming below the waist” and to “spark a movement that unlocks men’s confidence so they can live their best lives.” These are my disclosures, before you get in the “weeds”. I’m in the late 40s, am married, and have not been very self-centered. My head is mostly unruly and the hair on my body and face doesn’t grow very thick, but it can become inconsistent. Since I take good care of my hygiene, I am open to learning more about grooming.
The brand, founded by a father-and-son team (feel free to unpack that on your own), sells two versions of a cordless pubic hair clipper, a cordless ear- and nose-hair trimmer, nail-grooming kits, and various grooming products for men’s hair and skin all bestowed with “clever” names both a la carte and in sets.
I have used the Lawn Mower 2.0. 3.0. 4.0. The Lawn Mower 4.0 is a waterproof electric hair trimmer with “SkinSafe Technology”. It prevents cuts. The 2.0 model has been discontinued. In this review I used the Crop Preserver and Crop Reviver as anti-chafing deodorants. The Shed is a small travel bag with all the necessary stuff. Separately I also tested Manscaped’s Weed Whacker. This is a watertight electric trimmer for the ear, nose, and throat.

Manscaped pricing, like many subscription-based startups, is a bit complicated. Permit me to help you understand it.
Lawn Mower 4.0 sells at $89.99 through Manscaped.com. Or $84.99 if your sign up for “Peak Hygiene Plan”. This will allow you to receive 2 replacement products, such as extra blades (or any of our so-called Formulations), every 3 months. The $14.99 charge is for this plan. Manscaped advises that you replace your mower blades every three months to ensure optimal performance and clean operation. A Lawn Mower 3.0 retails at $79.99. This price is also available with the Peak Hygiene Plan for $69.99.
Crop Preserver, $12.99 or a recurring $9.99 per shipment when you subscribe to a Crop Preserver; you have the option of receiving it every one, two or three months.
Crop Reviver: $10.99 or an $8.99 recurring charge with a Subscription The Shed bag, $39.99, (or Free with some sets).
Peak Hygiene Plan: The Peak Hygiene Plan used to only cover the replacement of the ceramic blade. This meant that each 3 months you were charged $14.99 and received one new blade. Manscaped lets you choose from two different products at the same $15. The first can be a replacement blade. Also, you can mix and match your choices and adjust them before each shipment. You may need one blade to use with the Lawn Mower, and another for your Weed Whacker. No problem. Want a new mower blade and a refill on the ball toner? Cool.

Can Manscaped be used?

As my “first test” I entered the bathtub and turned the shower taps. Then, I began mowling the lawn with the flowing water.
Although it was difficult to keep my skin tight and guide the knife through my hair, I could see that my hair was covering the shower floor.
It worked better without the use of the plastic comb attachment. The unencumbered blade cuts and lifts wet hair easier that way. A result of my reduced visibility, I limited the amount of mowing that I did while in the shower.
Because you can use the trimmer wet or dry, I later repeated the manscaping exercise without water. To better view what I was doing, I stood before a full-length mirror that I had placed on the bathroom’s door. I took a piece of actual newsprint and tried it under my waist.
I was able to easily guide the trimmer through my sensitive areas. However, I had to be careful not only to maintain taut skin but also ensure that the blade point in line with the instructions in the box.
The Lawn Mower 4.0 includes a small LED light that is placed below the replaceable mower blade. It provides a helpful lighting source. The 3.0’s innovative design was transferred to the 4.0.
