Design

If you admired the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin’s design but wouldn’t crack the price, then you have every reason to look at the MSI GF63 Thin. The GS65 Stealth Thin is almost identical to our review unit, which is fine because it’s a stunning piece of gaming laptop design. Like its high-end sibling, this gaming notebook features a 82% screen-to-body ratio with bezels just 4.9mm, that’s to say, you have a 15.6-inch display in a 14-inch frame.

Similarly, both laptops share an identical layout of body lines as well as keyboard and trackpad placement. Only way to tell them apart visually is the MSI GF63’s bold black and red color trim, while the model last year was a little more muted in its colors.

Except for the bottom panel, most of the chassis is metal. MSI claims this allows the system to have a different feel. Overall, the MSI GF63 Thin 9SC-614 looks like a combination of MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro and its current flagship.

Bottom line

The MSI 9SC-614 review unit is an affordable, lightweight and portable gaming laptop. The value-price ratio makes it a good choice for schools, work and leisure. In addition to a lightweight design, this notebook includes all the essential ports you’d need on a daily basis and the power to play modern games, edit images and videos all that while remaining very affordable.

If you need more power, our Editors’ Choice for midrange gaming laptops the Acer Predator Helios 300 (PH315-52-78VL) is a good option if you’re going to spend around $1,000 on a gaming rig. The GF63 has slightly better specifications, it weighs slightly more and has a higher display, a latest CPU, a better GPU, and a much more luxurious design.

Overall, the MSI GF63 Thin 9SC-614 is a decent laptop for folks who want strong performance and a dedicated GPU for casual gaming, but can’t nab a better alternative than can serve the same purpose at this price point.

What is the Best Laptop for You?

It’s a strong laptop at a good price. Unfortunately, the display of this laptop is not very impressive. Gaming enthusiasts who need high-end graphics will want to invest in a higher-powered GPU (e.g. a 1050Ti) to make their games more enjoyable.

Are Msi’s Gf63 Thins Worth it?

Performance: The GF63 Thin’s performance is not the best, but it does a great job for the price. This device is for casual gamers who want to enjoy the latest games at high frame rates and decent graphics. The spec sheet also shows this. MSI has an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 featuring the Max Q architecture with 4GB VRAM.

Is The Msi Gf63 Durable?

Great value MSI GF63 Thin It comes with 8GB of RAM out of the box, but is user-upgradeable to as much as 64GB, uses NVMe SSD storage for superfast data transfer, and with its battery life of up to 7 hours, it lasts a fair while off the charger for a gaming laptop.
