The G400 has given me a lot of confidence. It’s been awhile since I felt like that. Simply amazing is the forgiveness. PING states the G400 has “the deepest CG, highest MOI and golf’s best driver.” This makes sense to me. The ball is so fast that it barely slips off the fairway. The best of us mishit the driver on occasion and most of us mishit it a lot. You should try to get as much forgiveness possible.

PING gave the G400 an aerodynamic boost. The improved shape reduces drag 15% during the downswing, meaning more club head speed. G30 should be reduced down to below 300cc to become as aerodynamically efficient as G400.

The G400 driver’s engineering doesn’t end at the head. PING provides two stock shafts which can be used to optimise the G400 for various players. Alta CB 55 – A mid-trajectory shaft, which is counterbalanced to compensate the increased head weight. It scores bonus points for changing color from copper to black when you set it down at address. PING also sells the Tour 65 and Tour75 shafts, which offer a heavier shaft for players with lower ball flights. Additional shafts are available to purchase at an additional cost, including the Kuro Kage 60/HZRDUS Red 75 and Aldila X-Torsion.
