Ping G10 Driver’s evolution is not a revolution. Engineers spent many hours researching how MOI design actually works. These findings show that driving straighter doesn’t have to be associated with high MOI clubs. It remains fact that if shots are hit with an open or closed club face no matter what the moi you won’t get any help reducing side spin! Moi says that the company was a factor in designing the driver. However, they didn’t neglect other important elements of our driver. So, by paying attention to what matters to golfers, the company believes they have created a driver with great sounding and cosmetic appeal which can deliver maximum distance while offering tons of forgiveness. Its body is slightly larger than the Ping G5, and its face is higher. This means that the club’s centre of gravity is a bit lower, deeper, and offers more forgiveness than the Ping G5. With moi increasing over the G5 driver, you will also notice that misses go farther if drives aren’t hit off center as often.

When it comes down to the stats Ping tour players have found the Ping G10 an average of five yards longer than their current driver. While club golfers comparing the G10 and Ping G5 have experienced a four yard gain in carry distance and a 2 mph gain in ball speed. Ping Man the robot golfer, affectionately called Ping Man drove five extra yards and had a much lower spin rate. Also, it launched at a greater angle. This all leads us to agree that the G10 is worth its weight in gold.

Although the G10 is not as fun and flashy as the other tests, it may be more entertaining. For a start, you can’t adjust anything! You might be able to get your driver fitted for one of these if you go.

I had been playing with the same driver six years ago and felt it was high time that I invested in a new team. I went straight to the pro and was fitted with high-tech equipment using the Vector Pro Launch System.

He asked me to play six shots with the driver I had in my bag, a Taylor. Made Firesole, which had a 10deg loft with a regular graphite shaft. Here you can see my average yardage as well the club head speed, ballspeed, and ball speed. Although I had a great distance to the target, with a modern driving device I could hit it further. It was suggested that I use a stiff shaft to offset the spin I was applying to the ball because my head speed was very high.

Before I got my Ping G10, I tested a lot of different drivers. A pro advised me to generate a higher launch angle. He gave me the 12-deg driver. Instantaneously, the improvement was evident.

The club’s titanium head is 460cc. A new thin crown design provides discretionary mass which is placed inside the head for improved CGT positioning for higher launch. I have used the driver for 5 months now and my game has greatly improved. It is incredibly forgiving. The club is allowing me to hit it further than I thought possible and, more important, it is moving straight down the center. My confidence has improved and now I don’t feel so anxious on my first tee, even with people around me!
