G20’s features are nothing groundbreaking, but letter to letter. According to PING, the G20 features:
Aerodynamic, 460cc head featuring a bigger face for more forgiveness and power on the whole hitting surface
External weight for high launch and low spin.
Although it’s a standard way of describing a driver new to the game, I may have fallen asleep reading it. However PING is known for their outstanding record in improving drivers’ performance with every release. There’s no paint on PING, and there’s no tinker toy adjustment. They are always focused on helping average golfers perform better. Although it isn’t often visually striking, you won’t find a tool that doesn’t do the job.
Methodology We Used to Test The 6 players for whom detailed performance data was collected were asked to shoot a series on the 3Track Equipped simulators of aboutGolf. Tark’s Indoor Golf in Saratoga Springs was used for testing. Detailed data for each and every shot for which we collected data is now viewable in the interactive portion of this review . These details form the foundation of our final performance score. An additional 6 golfers had the opportunity to review the PING G20 driver and provided feedback regarding our subjective categories: looks, feel. sound. perceived accuracy. perceived forgiveness. These data, as well as information from the performance testers are used to calculate our subjective score. The testing was conducted using regular, stiff and x-stiff drivers at 9.5deg, 10.5deg, respectively.
Ping G20 driver editor review
R flex TFC169D shaft. Ping ID8 grip. An external weight optimises center of gravity for high spin and launch. G20’s high-density, variable-thickness face makes it easier to hit the ball faster and improves MOI. Ti 8-1-1’s high strength-to-weight ratio allows for additional weight to be strategically placed for increasing the MOI on both the vertical and horizontal axes. Different wall thicknesses of the body and crown can reduce weight. They are designed to improve performance and longevity.
Cons: Excellent looking club head with great address placement, muted gray color and a confident-inspiring head size. The head also offers high launch and low spin at a reasonable cost for a club that’s new on the market.
The cons: Ping does not provide adjustability with their woods and drivers, so if you are looking for a very versatile club this might not be the right choice. It is also important to consider whether the average golfer will need a driver that measures 45.75 inches.
Bottom line: It is an extremely solid, modern driver. You will find it very difficult to find a better club if you need forgiveness, launch control, or a lot of distance.
Review Ping 2021 Driver for G20
The Ping g20 is a great club for driving the ball farther down the fairway.
This club has an aerodynamic Titanium face with a lighter external weight. It is specifically designed for average golfers looking to improve their game on the greens.
We review the Ping G20 Driver and discuss its pros and cons to help you decide if this club is a worthwhile addition to your bag.
Power distribution across entire hit surface
Long 46-inch shaft lets you put up impressive distance numbers
Club Face offers a low spin and high launch
Detail Review on the Ping G20 Golf driver
Here is the review of the different aspects of the Ping g20 Driver:
The g20 grey color is unobtrusive and has minimal design elements. You can put it this way: “No frills.” Boring would be another.
To be fair, design isn’t the selling point here. The club’s sleek design is not a masterpiece.
The g20 might not be for you if looks are important to your golf game. The design of your club is important.
Thanks to Ti 8-1-1, the alloy of low-density Ti 8,1-1, the clubhead has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Both the face and crown have a variable thickness, which allows for both high spin and launch. Because of its high balance, you can quickly and easily swing much weight.
Golf ball, look out! The large clubface will send your shots flying down the fairway. This is due the extra weight in the heel. You’ll get the ball airborne – and fast!
You can swing freely, but this club is forgiving. Off-center hits are usually very low, and you will likely enjoy consistent distance gains.
Review: Ping G20 Driver
Bubba Watson Ping staff player Bubba Watson was known for his great length from the tee. He regularly is near the top statically in driving distance tournament after tournament. It’s amazing to see him smash his Ping drivers. Even amateurs wish they could get the ball so far. Ping G20’s driver will get you there “Bubba”. Ping releases a driver every time. It’s simple and exciting, compared to the one you have now. It’s not about building fancy cars, but rather enhancing the drivers’ internal design. This makes them easier to handle and more powerful than their older models. The G20 is no different. The new G20 Ping driver is both longer and straighter that previous Ping drivers.
Ping continues to offer the most customized process of any company in golf. It has been praised in every one of my Ping reviews. Golfers need the right equipment to help them improve their game. Sometimes, you want to just walk in to a golf shop and pick up a new set of clubs. If you walk into any golf store, you will find the Ping G20. It comes with several loft options and the Ping TFC169D standard or tour shaft. The Tour is less launch-friendly and has lower torque. Common setup is 45.75 inch swing weight and Pings ID8 grip.
Stock shafts were never my favorite because they’re often too expensive and inconsistent. They also don’t fit well with my swing. I was skeptical about playing the G20 on the rack driver because of all the Ping’s fitting options. After many rounds with the Ping G20 I have seen that it produces better results than any other shaft. It is the perfect driver. The shaft has mid-launch spin and a low spin. You will feel crisp and silky.
Head is full-size at 460cc, with ample girth from front to back as well as side to side. It is square and has a deep, square face. It is painted a charcoal color on the crown, it has the Ping half-moon alignment aid and the bottom has a mostly polished sole with some red and black paint.
On the course is where you get “Bubba” with it. My first drive was so impressive. I hit an absolute bomb right down the middle of the fairway as straight as can be. It felt so hot off the face and rose gently to a mid/high launch and just carried and carried until it descended bounding down the fairway. For the rest, the drive was an exact copy of the previous round. It was as steady and lengthy as any driver. It was one of the longest drivers I’ve hit off the rack. Combining it with my G20-3wood (review HERE ), I was able achieve a few of the par 5s I have never been to in 2. For other players, it was very long. For one round, I was paired with a high-handicapper. He had recently bought the Ping G20 drivers. His specs were similar to my own. He was really struggling with all of his clubs except the driver. He was making it impossible for himself to do so.
Ping changed a few things to make the G20 club “Bubba”. Ping G20 drivers are the best choice for those who want a driver that is simple and has great sound.
