Ping G400 Driver Review

What is the Ping G400’s performance compared to other Ping drivers?

With the G400 the stealthy black matte finish is repeated, as well as Dragonfly Technology at the crown. However, PING’s job was much more impressive than with earlier models. The G30 and PING G were too intrusive, and almost got in the way. The head has a more elegant, modern, and sleeker design that makes it look better.

G400 uses the same amount of tungsten as PING’s previous offerings at the back, but the weight is now closer to its heel for more control. The design for control and power in distance is unparalleled.

It really transformed the G400’s appearance. The typical ALTA CB shaft design ditches the traditional black/blue color scheme typically used on PING’s G Model and the G400 now sports a new classy looking dark copper colored shaft that was completely unexpected, but definitely cool.

Just released, the new Ping G400 Max driver is a better fit if you are a beginner or high handicapper. Read our full review about the G400 Max Driver.

How Does The Ping G400 Stack Up Against The Competition?

Compared to other drivers of its caliber, the G400 Driver is definitely a stand out in most categories. G400 Driver does not have the same level of performance as the Taylor. M1 Callaway GBB Epic, like many Titleist drivers, found that the G400 driver from PING doesn’t offer CG adjustability. Many are concerned about the inability to adjust the ball flight other than a shaft or loft adjustment.

G400 crowns could also be problematic for some golfers. The address is very interesting, even though the crowns are smaller.

Check out the 2018 Guide to New Drivers for a detailed review. The PING Driver G400 Driver also has one the longest stock shafts on the market. Measuring in at a whopping 45.75” inches, this poses a problem for some players, especially as the trend for shorter drivers is growing.

Driver Ping G400 in Numbers

We did a number of reviews on the Ping G400 Driver, and these are our findings.

15%: 15% more drag in the Ping G400 than the G driver on the downswing 295cc. To be as aerodynamic and efficient as the Ping G400, the G30 size driver from 2014 would have to be reduced.

20% G400’s new T9S+ titanium face is 20% more stretchy than the G, it’s also 6% thinner and 9% lighter.

Ping estimates that even golfers with average swing speeds will experience a ball speed improvement of 1.2 mph.

5 yards Average swing speed is the distance players will gain from the G driver. However, gains in G30 or G25 are greater.

13 There were thirteen tour guides who took the Ping G400 driver on their first trip, the US Open.

Best Driver I Ever Used

Let me first apologize for my bad review. It is a Psych moment for me. It was my driver when I purchased it in November 2017. I have already played 7 rounds. This club can withstand all conditions. Due to missed fairways (A Few Slices), I had my shaft fitted and was then offered the SFT model. Being fit was my best accomplishment. Now in my third year, I’ve tried out the R1, SLDR, & the Aeroburner. I decided to convert all of my bag to Ping after a demo day and got the Ping G driver. After I had my set, the G400 arrived. It was tempting to give it a try and find out what all the fuss is about. I had to get fitted. It was by far the best decision I made. To convert to Ping as well as to receive the G400 SFT driving license. I have hit 65-70% fairways (No B.S.). I am hitting straighter, longer shots with average “Total” distance of 230-260 yds. Recently, a good friend who introduced me to golf 3 yrs ago, forgot his set back at his hometown and played a round with his back up clubs. So I suggested that he try my G400 SFT driver. His reaction was total shock and awe. He couldn’t believe he hit straighter (Baby Draws), was longer, and was more consistent on the fairways. He said that his Cobra driver would be traded in for his Go To Set so he could get fitted to a G400. He said he’d look into additional Ping products after two drives. The sale came after seeing the progress of his Jedi with new Ping G400 and i200 woods as well as with a Sigma G Anser puttingter. I almost forgot to mention, I have 3 yrs of playing the game and I play with coworkers and their friends. Averagely, they spend 10 years playing. Two out of three times I drive the G400 SFT by 10-15 yards on the fairway. It is about 5–10 yards for rough mishits. It’s great to watch their excitement when I drive them. Ping has helped me play my best and be confident to do better. #Play. It’s your. Best #Buckle. Join the #Team Ping

I Can Hit My Driver

I previously owned a Taylormade R1 driver. It was too difficult to drive. It was my desire to test the driver and see the effect of equipment on the problem. I knew in my heart that 95% of it was probably me. Even though I read the reviews, I wasn’t convinced they had been paid for or were written by Ping employees. Ouch! Today, my Ping G400 max took me out on the track. I even used my driver! Better yet, I was in play! Even in the fairway a few times. UNBELIEVABLE DIFFERENCE. This has changed the way I play. Longer and playable. This club is the best. It’s true, I can drive off the tee. Ping!

I highly recommend this product.

What is the 2018 Ping G400 Sft Driver Rating?

Design – 7. While higher handicappers may prefer a larger head, the 445cc design can cause anxiety in high handicap players who fear missing the sweet spot.

Technology – Ten This club is chokeful of tech. It’s easy to see why the SFT is becoming the favorite driver. From Vortex Technology increasing moi and clubhead speed, to a forged S9S+ face translating into better balls, the Dragon Fly & Vortex Technology are just a few of the reasons. Compound this with the internal rib structure making for a sweet sounding Max Game Improvement driver and you’ve got a winner winner clubhouse dinner.

Performance – 8, The SFT performs exactly as it was intended to (eliminate slices), which is the problem with this driver. The club is not recommended for those golfers who aren’t good at slicing. But for those who do need the help, it’s possibly the best for 2018.

Ping offers 6 shaft options. With so many shaft manufacturer choices, you can’t help but be impressed by the Ping range of shafts.

Callaway & Taylor – Price: 9 The driver for $399 (both drivers) is an excellent price.

Reviews – 10 Go to Google and search Ping G400 SFT Driver and look through 5 pages. The overall rating is at the moment 4.9. It’s all over!

Performance during the course

Club Speedball Speedlaunch Angle Spin Carry (Yds).

This section is the strongest part of our entire PING G400 Max review. Let me start by saying this: This is the easiest driver that I have ever encountered. You lose very little yardage if you miss off the central face. However, it doesn’t matter if you hit the wrong side or right. My biggest miss was a block-fade right, which usually finds me on the next fairway. The G400 Max made that miss into a straight block right. My ball was often in a playable spot.

The G400 Max is the highest launching and fastest spinning of all the G400 options. You can optimize this driver’s performance with the correct shaft. Because I am a heavy-ball hitter, I combined the G400 Max’s low/mid launch, low spin shaft with my G400 Max to control both launch and spin. With the G400 Max I had expected to gain some distance, but in reality I got a lot of carry yardage. It meant more total distance and more fairways. This is what you can imagine.

Are You a Beginner with the Ping G400 Driver?

Performance: Ping G400 offers a very forgiving driving experience that makes it possible to take the golf ball up and away. It has a large sweet spot, and it delivers a solid feel and sound.Apr 20, 2021
