Ping G400 Max Review

I Can Hit My Driver

A Taylormade R1 was my previous driver. To save my life, I could not hit it. A new driver was needed to determine if I was the problem or the equipment. However, 90% of what was happening was probably me. Although I didn’t trust the reviews on this site, I assumed they were either paid by Ping and written by Ping employees. Ah no! My Ping G400 max took me out to the track today. I even used my driver! And even better: I was playing! You can even see me in the fairway at times. UNBELIEVABLE DIFFERENCE. I’m not great but this changed my game. Longer and playable. I love this club. It’s true, I can drive off the tee. Ping, thanks!

Yes.

It is my recommendation.

Ping G400 Max Review

Compare The G400 Maximum Driver to Other Recent Ping Options Like The G400 Or The Ping G.

For starters, the lower your handicap and more consistent your swing the higher the clubhead must be in your bag.

For golfers struggling to find the centre of the fairway and face on a consistent basis, it’s difficult to imagine a G400 Max scenario that wouldn’t be an improvement.

Ping’s new models are always slightly better than previous ones.

You can read our review of Ping G400 driver to see if it is a good driver for you. If you’re interested in a discount on an older model of Ping G, we recommend our Ping G driver review.

How Does The G400 Max Driver Compare To Other Drivers On The Market?

It is sure to be the Callaway Epic’s or Callaway Rogue’s top-selling product.

Taylor. The M2 Driver, and especially the M4 Driver are similar classes. They were created as game-improvement drivers. Another similar club is the Mizuno ST180 driver.

This G400 Max is aimed at mid-to high handicappers.

Forgiveness and distance are a beautiful combination.

A 460cc head must look attractive to all golfers.

Performance during the course

Club Speedball Speed Launch Angle Spin Carry (Yds), Total (Yds).

This section is the strongest part of our entire PING G400 Max review. It is simply the best driver I have ever seen. You lose very little yardage if you miss off the central face. If you hit the wrong side or back, it won’t get as far offline. The block-fade from the right is my biggest mistake. It usually finds the fairway adjacent to me. I found that with the G400 Max, that miss turns into a straight block to the right, and my ball often still found a playable position.

G400 Max, which is the most powerful option in the G400 range, should be used for the majority. You can maximize the driver’s performance by selecting the appropriate shaft. As a high-ball hitter, I paired the G400 Max with a low/mid launch, low spinning shaft, to contain my launch and spin numbers. Although I was expecting to lose some distance for the G400 Max’s forgiveness, I found that I gained quite a bit more consistent carry yardage. For me, that equated to more total distance, and more importantly, more fairways hit from the forgiveness. That’s what it looks like.

Gear

Ping Ping G400 drivers review Ping Ping driver review Ping Ping driver review Ping Ping driver review Ping Ping driver Ping’s G400 was first seen out on Tour last year during the U.S. Open. It went right into the bags of many Ping pros including Louis Oosthuizen, Bubba Watson and Lee Westwood.

The G400’s extremely rapid adoption rate, especially for mid-season, was something that made sense when I first saw it.

After just hitting a handful of shots, the amazing level of forgiveness offered and the modestly increased speed were enough to make me happy to pack it in my bag. This is exactly the case with the G400 Max.

Simply put, it is the G400 on MOI steroids and forgiveness. With a MOI combined of just under 9,000 grams, the G400 achieved a remarkable MOI. But the Max has taken this to the next level with an impressive combined MOI that exceeds 9,900 cm2. For golfers all over the world, this is forgiveness like no other.

Increased head size of 445cc has been made to 460cc. To increase forgiveness. Combines with Dragonfly crown tech and the thin, forged face to ensure maximum weight savings.

To give the sole maximum forgiveness and high launch, the high density tungsten backweight has been moved towards the edge.

G400 Max has more than just increased forgiveness. The unique forging and patented heat-treatment process of the new T9S+ face powers a thinner, hotter impact area that is precision machined to elevate ball speed across the entire face.

Ping G400 max Driver Review

The past year has been one of constant positives for PING, and for lack of a more professional way of putting it, they got their groove back, especially when it comes to drivers. The initial G400 release (G400, LST, SFT) presented a unified front of an extremely high total MOI driver with the tech, looks, and performance to create some noise, and it has. Later, they announced the addition of a larger, more forgiving G400 driver to market. It caused some controversy, both positively and negatively.

How does the G400 Max stand up? Can it improve on the PING lineup? THP was excited to answer these questions after receiving the G400 Max for review.

Technical Information from PING for the G400 Max Motor Driver:

Larger profile – Dragonfly Technology is used to cut the crown of the 460cc head and place the CG at low levels for maximum MOI. You will enjoy the pleasing address view due to the unique texture of its crown and infinity edges.

PING Engineers Patent Satisfying Sounds – Computer simulation combined with music theory led them to invent a rib system that produces deeper and more subtle sounds while still enhancing the feel.

MOI to the Max – Keeping the forged face thin creates more discretionary weight. This allows you to combine tungsten weighting with a heavier-density backweight for a MOI of over 9,900. The result is the most precise dispersion possible in golf.

Forged to Flex – The T9S+-forged thin face is more flexible to generate straight, long drives. For spin reduction, the surface is also textured, creating friction that increases ball speed. Also, a new face design forms a capture look when the ball touches it.
