Some brands have discontinued adjustable hosels to fit fairway woods or hybrids, but Ping believes adjustability is an important aspect of golfer fitting.

This means that the G425 fairways are equipped with hosels capable of being adjusted to adjust loft by +/- 1.5deg and lie angle up to 3 deg.

Ping G425 Max Fairway Wood Review

The popularity of ping fairway woods is growing, and with good reason. You will find a fantastic club with great feel and distance.

Three fairway woods models are included in the latest G425 model. The Max (great all-round option), LST (low spinhead), and SFT (draw biased) are the three models. SFT and Max both appeal to the majority of players who are looking for more forgiveness on fairway shots. The Max fairway wood is recommended if you do not want to be draw biased.

Here’s my honest opinion about the Ping G425Max fairway woods. Ping has dropped the “ribbed pattern” of its previous G series woods. I have to admit, I feel a bit glad. The G425 fairway woodens look smoother to me. Ping has removed the ribbed pattern and added three small alignment dots so you can make sure that the ball is squared at address.

At the bottom of your clubhead you will see weight placement. It is located low and at the back. It’s an indicator of a flexible, high-launching design. Overall I like the black/grey scheme.

Take a final look at what the sole looks like. Ping uses fairway golf woods to create a flatter sole. These are easier on mishits. You’ll get punished if you hit the wrong spot with a flat sole. However, mishits shots fly fairly well with a flatter sole.

Let’s make something clear. My anecdotal experience with the Ping G425 Max fairway woods doesn’t offer much value to YOU. Try the club on your range. While you may think that the Max is the one for you, you may find that you like the LST or SFT far better for a wide variety of reasons.

In general, the Ping G425 Max is simply an awesome all-around fairway wood. I hit the Ping G425Max Max 10 yards more than my 5-year-old Callaway model. I think the Ping G425 max would be a better choice than the four-wood because it gives me more consistent distance gaps.
