In testing the G710 irons, I found exactly what I was looking for: tight circles and long shots. The irons are fast, have good ball speed and launch well. They also spin well enough to keep a green. G710 Irons can be a great alternative to distance irons which only fire knee-high rockets or knuckleballs. I picked up a club of distance but maintained my landing angle.

More than any other club in the set, the 4-iron really impressed me. As a low launching player, I struggle to get enough distance and consistency out of long irons. G7104I saw the ball rise into a comfortable window, carry a lot, and land as softly, as possible.

PING has made it a standard feature to offer a variety of shaft options for the G710. PING Alta Distanza’s new shaft is lightest yet (43 grams), and has the highest launch iron. Other than the two PING shafts that are proprietary, you can also choose from True Temper (Nippon), KBS, True Temper (UST) and Project X.

Each set of PING G710 Irons includes Arccos Caddie Smart Grip. So that each shot is tracked, the sensor is inbuilt into the grip of your irons. It was never this easy to make high-handicap Irons look so good. The G710s prove that it has made a huge leap in the last few years. Our favorite features are the fast construction and hollow body, which is a rare design option in this segment.

The G710 was rated second in our Best 2021 High Handicap Iron Test for the protection of carry distance dropoff. We also like how the head covertly inspires confidence behind the ball, as the dark finish very cleverly hides the size.

It’d be unfair to assume that the G710 will produce the longest distances from a lower loft than most. However, from experience we know at more average speeds, any distance edge is likely to be tiny.
