For this review, we signed up for a $10-per-month Plus account ($96 per year, $159 every two years), which is the third of four pricing tiers. It’s almost the same average price for a VPN ($10.05/month) that we tested. This still makes it less expensive than other VPNs with comparable features like Nord, Editors Choice winner. VPN. This Tier allows you to access all Proton VPN servers. VPN allows you to use five VPN servers simultaneously. Plus servers are also available. These are servers restricted to the highest two tiers of Proton. VPN. VPN. This is an unusual feature. While you do not need to buy or use VPN for Tor access, it is helpful. You can also access streaming media via specially-designated servers at the Plus level.

If that’s not enough you can still upgrade to a $30/month plan (which costs $288 annually and $479 every two year) called Visionary. It is the most expensive of the four pricing levels. It includes all features from the prior tier and increases the number of devices you can simultaneously connect to 10. What you’re really getting with a Visionary plan is access to the highest paid tier of Proton. Mail encrypted email service operated by Proton. VPN. Proton is 20GB. Email storage, 50 email addresses, support for 10 domains and maximum five users in one email account. Proton. Mail also includes a secure address book, private Proton. Proton. Proton. A VPN’s average annual price is $71.58, owing to large discounts that many companies offer when you sign up for a longer term subscription. Proton. VPN Plus accounts are $96/year or $159 every other year. Kaspersky Secure Connection however, costs only $29.99 per annual. Despite the savings, we caution against starting with a long-term VPN subscription. You can instead try a temporary or free VPN plan, and then see how it works for you at your house and the services that you require before investing in a long-term subscription.

Proton. VPN subscriptions can be purchased via major credit card or Pay. Pal. Bitcoin payments can be made, however you need to create an account before making them. Proton. VPN also claims that it will accept money sent straight to its HQ. We’ve seen this option only with Editors Choice winners Mullvad, IVPN.

If you find you need more simultaneous connections, Proton. VPN will allow you to order them as an individual. You can add Proton to your subscription portal. You can also create a Mail Professional account. Then, add VPN connections for just $2 per monthly. For longer subscriptions, the price is lower. However, some VPN companies have done away with these limitations entirely. This is one of our tested VPN companies:

Software-defined virtual servers allow multiple physical servers to host many virtual servers. Virtual locations enable VPN servers to appear from another location. Both of them aren’t necessarily dangerous. However, we want VPN companies to be clear about where their infrastructure is. ProtonVPN representatives told me they only use “bare metal” servers. This means that they have dedicated machines, and they’re exactly where they claim to be.

ProtonVPN claims that it employs full disk encryption to ensure physical security. Any server stolen would not be accessible. The company also says that its dedicated servers are harder to attack by virtue of not being virtual servers, and any server that goes offline in “unforeseen circumstances” is immediately wiped and reprovisioned. Others VPNs also run their servers in RAM.

You should expect that all VPN companies respect your privacy, and will protect your private information. After all, your main purpose for using VPNs is to keep you from having access to any of your personal data. After reading ProtonVPN’s documentation and speaking with the company, we believe that ProtonVPN is acting in the best interests of its customers but determining that with total certainty is all but impossible. You should not trust any VPN company if this is the case. There are plenty to choose from.

Proton is a simple and straightforward service. Although the VPN pricing plan is very restrictive, Proton offers greater flexibility than most other providers. Also, the company provides an unrivalled experience free of charge that doesn’t throttle your bandwidth nor allow push ads. Proton. VPN has built its reputation for privacy-focusedness after being exposed to so many VPNs that focus on speed and video streaming. It also has a remarkably good-looking client, which is not something every VPN can claim. Combining all of that with the company’s commitment to technological excellence is powerful. Proton is the only thing that worries us. Wire hasn’t been launched by VPN yet. This is a minor problem, however.

Proton was our first time reviewing it. VPN has grown in both size and popularity more than twice as fast. This company proved that they can grow their product without jeopardizing its integrity. It is Editors’ choice winner. Proton. VPN earns a slightly higher score than its co-winners because of its excellent free version and collection of privacy features.

Pricing for paid plans can be a bit more complicated. An affordable Basic plan will cost $5/mo monthly. However, it is now $4/mo annually and $3.29/mo over a two year plan. The Basic plan includes P2P support as well as two simultaneous connections. It also gives access to server in all countries Proton. VPN is available in but not the Plus servers. They are also designed to stream.

Secure Core, content unblocking and the Secure Core feature will only be available to those who have at least a Plus subscription. It costs $10 per month ($8/mo each year) or $6.63/mo over a two years plan. You’ll also get 10 simultaneous connections with this plan (that’s up from five since our last review), but it’s still somewhat expensive. You’ll probably choose this plan because it allows Proton. VPN offers streaming power, and access to every server.

The Visionary package is $30 per month if you are looking for something more. It includes all of the Plus packages and the full Proton. Mail subscription. Visionary is now available at $24/mo (one-year) and $19.96/mo (two-year). However, this plan still comes with a significant premium. We expect that few people will ever pay it unless they absolutely need encrypted email support.

This package is virtually identical to Proton. Mail Visionary includes the VPN. Proton. Mail is one the top email services. They focus on security and don’t sacrifice usability. Visionary plans do give you many extras if you want them.

Notably, you can remain completely anonymous when signing up for Proton. VPN. The platform supports Proton. It allows users to mail email addresses, and it accepts Bitcoin payment. It’s an appealing option if you wish to keep your identity as private as possible.
