The differences in sizes and varieties

We tested the 55 inch Samsung QN90A, and for the most part, we expect our review to be valid for the 43 inch, 50 inch, 65 inch, 75 inch, 85 inch, and 98 inch variants available in North America. Costco sells only the 65-inch Samsung QN9 Series. We expect the European QN90A to be a different TV. It performs worse than the QN94A, which is the closest model to our test. It is important to note that Samsung TVs have six letters at the end of the short model codes (AAFXZA). This can make it difficult for models from different regions or retailers.

Samsung Qn90A – Remote

Samsung’s remote, unlike others in the sector, can be charged using USB-C or solar. Additionally it doesn’t need a pair of traditional AAA or AAA batteries. It’s a great idea, and it would be great if other manufacturers took this approach.

The design and layout of the remote are simple but sleek. If Sony is considered the most complicated remote with the most buttons you’ll never need, Samsung might be at the other end of the spectrum. The device is unadorned in white and has only three buttons for shortcuts: the review unit featured Netflix Prime Video, Samsung TV Plus and Samsung TV Plus. No number buttons exist, but the large, directional pad (back, home, and play-pause) do all the heavy lifting.

Sometimes the remote feels a little too simple, but once you get used to it, you have everything you need to navigate Samsung’s Smart TV interface.

Samsung QN90A-Software and UI. I believe Samsung’s smart television interface Tizen is the worst. It’s less intuitive than Vizio Smartcast’s Google TV.

As an example, default will be that your TV automatically plays the Samsung TV Plus channel. Although there are several ways to fix this issue, they’re not easy to implement and you will be forced to listen whatever the TV decides to play. The Fear Factor was the one that caught my attention during setup. It’s a program from well over a century ago. The smart TV interface does not feel as though it cares about me and wants me to watch content I don’t want to see. The opposite experience of using a rival platform is what this smart TV interface gives me. I even prefer LG’s outdated WebOS smartTV interface to it.

Tizen isn’t easy to use, and the inconveniences are not a problem. The response time is not fast and it often takes a little longer to respond to my requests. It feels clunky.

What I feel the TV excels at is the Game Bar. Samsung uses this name to refer to its gaming-specific menu. Samsung’s exclusive game menu can easily be accessed by pressing the Play/Pause switch on a console/PC plugged into one HDMI 2.1 cable.

Choose from Voice Assistant or an optional webcam

Voice commands are built in and allow you to select between Samsung’s Bixby homebrew or Amazon Alexa Google Assistant. You will have the option to select which of these options when you click the mic button. Bixby, Amazon, and Google allow you to say the wake words “Alexa”, “Hi Bixby,” or simply “Alexa,” which will enable you to give commands hands-free. The mic, unlike last year’s remote, is actually located inside the TV. As with most TVs, the QN90A is also compatible with Google and Alexa speakers.

The Samsung health app was launched on TVs by the company in 2020. This year, it will offer personal coaching and guided workouts. Connect an optional webcam to the app (Samsung offers a selection of Logitech-recommended cameras). The app will monitor your workouts and offer coaching, complete with Jillian Michaels.

The webcam can be used to video chat using the Google Duo app. This allows for up to 12 people to participate in the chat. A screen mirror Duo app on your phone can be used to connect the TV’s camera. This isn’t Google’s Meet, but it allows you to have web chat at the large screen.

I didn’t test the webcam features for this review, but I did test drive the personal trainer earlier this year — and worked up a sweat, as seen in the video below.

A Stylish, Premium Design

The QN90A is sleek and elegant. It has no bezels and has a thin profile measuring just 1.1 inches. A small outcropping at the bottom right corner conceals the multi-purpose button and bears the Samsung logo. This breaks up the clean TV front. It is supported by an upright metal stand that’s square and flat.

You can find the QN90A’s connections, aside from the power cord connector on its right side. The four HDMI ports (one eARC), the two USB ports and an optical audio out, an Ethernet port and a 3.5mm EXL (RS232) port are all located on the right side of your TV. They can also be accessed from here. This TV does not have analog video inputs.

Sony Master Series. The included remote is made of a black flat wand and has a circular, circular direction pad. Below it are menu and back buttons. Below the pad are volume and channel rockers. To the left and right of them, there are dedicated buttons for Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. You can also use the voice assistant feature by using the microphone located near the top.

This remote has an integrated rechargeable battery. You can plug a standard USB-C charging cable into the port on the bottom, or flip the wand onto its back to reveal an eco-friendly option: a solar panel that charges the remote if you leave it on a sunny windowsill. It’s an excellent feature that anyone who wants to save on disposable batteries will appreciate.

Samsung Qn90A Neo Qled 4K Hdr Tv Review: You’Ll Love Watching It

The chatter that I see online indicates that there are lots of people who have questions about Samsung Neo QLEDTVs. Well, I’m pleased to say I have answers. AND some opinions to go with them. Let’s have a closer look at QN65QN90A QLED TV. This set is equipped with nearly 800 local dimming zones and thousands of mini-LEDs backlights. But, does it really look amazing? Let’s find out.

Specifics User experience About Neo QLED Color out of the sweet spot Quality sound quality Gaming I take my take From the box

Quick correction: Samsung strongly recommends that you do not use the same stand assembly technique as in my video. I agree. Although I prefer the method I used, there is a reason that manufacturers provide these instructions. I don’t want anyone to experience a poor experience due to my decision to ignore the directions. So, do as I say (now) and not as I do and we’ll all be right as rain.

It is not easy to assemble the stand. But on the positive side, I do like the stand’s look and feel. It will bend slightly when the TV is on it, but the secure configuration makes it less likely that it needs a support stand.

Sound Quality

The QN90 is competitively priced, available in 50-, 55-, 65- and 75-inch screen sizes. Here is the QE50QN90A-50-inch model. Important to know is that it uses the Lite Versions of Samsung Sound Technologies (Object Tracking Sound; this enhances the appearance of sound positioning relative the screen and Q Symphony, which pairs the TV speakers together with a separate Soundbar System) – whereas the panels larger have full-fat models.

This results in a very good audio experience with a clear soundstage and solid bass. Clear dialogue is also provided by decent amplification. A optimisation feature can adjust the audio based the acoustic setting and whether it is mounted on a wall or stand. Additionally, although there’s no Dolby Atmos Decoding onboard, the QN90 will send Atmos through eARC to its internal apps.

At a competitive price, the Samsung QN90 can be a great all-rounder. It may not be the most expensive TV on the market, but it has comparable performance and features to higher-end Neo QLED models. The TV is also compatible with most streaming services. This makes it great for use as an additional TV in the bedroom.

With its innovative features and resistance to screenburn, the QN90 makes a great partner for next-generation consoles. This TV is ideal for gamers who are looking to use it primarily as a gaming device. It’s also larger and more affordable than other dedicated gaming monitors.

Although the Samsung QN90 TV is certainly feature-rich, there are no Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos onboard decoding. Although the QN90’s impressive list of features is reasonable for its price, it can be hard to fault.

Design and features

QN90A’s 54.6″ (55 inch class) model retails at $1,700. This version features a 4K UHD display (3840 x 22160), 120Hz, and 10 bit. It uses mini-LEDs and quantum dots for rich, accurate backlighting.

As you can see, mini-LEDs are smaller than conventional backlight LEDs. The mini-LEDs can be placed close to the LCD/filter layers in order to improve brightness and reduce bleeding. These are also used in higher numbers which allows for better zone dimming. How precise depends on the number of zones the vendor decides to divvy them into. It seems like 600 for the QN90A 55-inch model. QN90A models that have larger screens likely use more.

TechHive has a wide range of smart TV reviews. You’ll also find reviews from the competitors and a buyer’s guide that will help you choose the right features for you.

The QN90A is equipped with the same iMac pedestal we first saw in Samsung’s QN90A a year ago. It adds quite a bit of weight (9.3 pounds), but that’s necessary for for stability. You will be impressed by the classy look and your ability to comfortably sit on smaller surfaces.

Including stand, the unit weighs 48.3 pounds; without it, 39 pounds. The QN90A is also remarkably thin at just one inch, which makes it look nice on the wall. A 200mm VESA mounting point has been integrated to this end. The image below shows how thin this TV is. The part jutting out from the back is part of the stand, not the TV itself.

Samsung’s QN90A measures only 1 inch thick, even though it does not have the One Connect breakout boxes that Samsung was fond of last year.

While the QN90A has a modern port selection, it is extremely limited in legacy support. You won’t find a composite, component or analogue audio output. Not even a headphone socket. Although it might sound outdated in today’s age of Bluetooth and Bluetooth-enabled headphones, the latter can prove to be extremely useful when you lose your headset in middle of a movie. If you need analog connections, you’ll need to purchase an HDMI converter.
