Sound & Feel

My review of SIM2’s driver will show you that I love its feel. I was apprehensive about the SIM2 Max because the SIM2 Max’s “players” driver often feels more relaxed than the one who is less forgiving. It was quite a surprise to discover that the SIM2 Max driver feels the same as the SIM2.

SIM2 Max golf balls feel extremely solid, and produce a “crack” sound at mid-pitch. This makes it a great club to hit.

The SIM2 Max driver can provide excellent feedback through his hands, even though he is not a very forgiving person. You’ll be able to see where the ball touched the head if you pay close attention. One small, surprising difference between the SIM2 Max and the SIM2 is that I found more audio feedback in the SIM2 Max.

Performance

TaylorMade has provided a detailed description of SIM2 Max through its lit. All the technology used in the SIM2 Max – Speed Injected Turn Face, Forged Ring Constructions, SIM Inertia Generator, and Forged Ring Constructions – are identical. The differences are that the SIM2 Max is billed as “Mid Launch” instead of low, and “Highest Forgiveness” instead of high.

While I wish I could say I found something significantly different during my testing, it wasn’t. TaylorMade has claimed that the SIM2 Max driver offers a higher launching speed and is more flexible than the SIM2. (Number lovers rejoice: you can see the LM numbers from this review in comparison to the SIM2).

The SIM2’s changes were both beneficial to me. There was a slight increase in my average ball speed due to the added forgiveness. An increase in launch angle and spin slightly increased my average carry distance. Although the differences were not significant, I believe they could grow with a bigger sample. It’s also worth stating again that I am a fairly low spin player, so you may see larger spin differences between the two SIM2 driver heads.

Forgiveness

This is a clear indication that SIM2 Max offers more flexibility than SIM2. And this was definitely borne out in my testing.

I find that my mis-hits perform better when using the SIM2 Max. The distance results are comparable to solid hits, and most mis-hits stay in the fairway.

However, how does the forgiveness compare to SIM Max? While some claim there’s not much improvement in the SIM Max, many others strongly disagree.

In my SIM Max Review, I noticed that the driver was not as forgiving as the. TaylorMade certainly has closed that gap with their SIM2 Max. In a nutshell I believe this driver is the most forgiving you have right now.

These are the Recommended Posts

Posted Since we have not had an “official TMag” review, it has been quite some time. It is hoped that things will improve in the near future.

Let’s take a look at the SIM2 max driver.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. A 64-year old Lutheran Minister in a small church and school near St Petersburg, FL. Penny, a late-in-life 19-year-old daughter of my wife, is partially disabled by Cerebral palsy. However, she is otherwise highly able. This leaves me little time to play golf, but it is possible. Current handicap index is 5.6. Driver swing speed sits in the middle 90’s. I own 7 iron 145 and driver 210-220.

My club hosted a Taylor Made fit experience. You could choose from full bag or irons. Or woods. A 3 wood has been on my mind for quite some time. Although it is unlikely to find one with my low SS and shallow AoA, it may be possible. The half-hour fitting took place at 10 AM.

It was crucial because I am always late and play much faster in the evenings. After arriving early at the club, I warmed up and managed to beat my usual speed according the Rapsodo by 3mph. Trackman, the Latter, would keep my SS at 1 mph from my $450 gadget.

I hit some 3 woods, starting with 180. Then I went on to reach for 195. Then I pulled out the 5 Wood and struck it three more times.

I’m a 17.5 inch fitter. He cried, but said that he was happy to try driver.
