TaylorMade is the most popular driver out and about in shops. TMag Driver Buzz seems to focus on the R11s, however we see the RocketBallz Driver as the dark horse of 2012. The social media world went wild when TaylorMade announced the new name of their line, RocketBallz. Many jokes and funny pictures were shared, as well as threats that TaylorMade would never purchase another golf club. There was also speculation that TaylorMade’s dominance in the game of golf could be overthrown. RocketBallz Tour is the model I’m going to be reviewing. They are both tunable for $299 which is an amazing feature. TMAG felt it was crucial to mention this because they insist on golfers being properly fit for the correct equipment.
The RBZ driver is not equipped with the R11’s adjustable sole plate or moving weights. However, it has adjustable technology that allows for optimal launch conditions to maximize your swing. This is TaylorMade’s Flight Control Technology (FCT). This feature was unavailable with Burner clubs. FCT (a user-adjustable system) lets golfers choose from eight different settings. Each setting has its own effect on the face, loft and lie angles of the clubhead. TaylorMade says the FCT settings are capable of affecting the ball’s side-to-side trajectory as much as 60 yards. If you’re a slicer, you can choose a setting that sets the face more to the left for a straighter ball flight. The face should be slightly more open if you are a hit drawer.
