Taylormade Sim And Sim Max Drivers Review

They look stunning. There is no denying that these drivers are stunning. In terms of the colours, out goes the red and in comes the blue. Also, instead of using white and black on the crown of their heads, they are now using grey and chalk-white.

It has many things, and I like the framing that is placed on the crown for alignment. You can also find a web design of the crown or SIM that was written by the hosel. The web design, aside from a minor color change, is almost identical to that of the old M drivers, until one looks underneath.

Let’s now talk about the impact of technology on the shape, and the TaylorMade team’s hard work. It looks like a T at the bottom. This is because the Inertia Generator has bulked out the front of the head, leaving space on either side.

Surprisingly, the SIM head looks small but that’s because the height of the face is much shallower compared to the models. The entire head looks much flatter and seems to be a lot smaller than it is. However, the face height does increase throughout the range.

In addition to sliding weight technology, the SIM offers a different type of driver than the two others. This will explain why the cost of the the SIM is PS479 and the other two come in with a RRP of PS449.

SIM Max D features divergent top lines masking. Golfers can look wider at address with SIM Max D, making them appear less open.

TaylorMade has made modern-day “new manufacturer noise” their own, I feel. You could even call it the TaylorMade Sound. It is solider than ever before, and sounds more like a dull whack than a loud ping sound. I enjoyed the SIM’s sound and feel off the face a lot.

Taylormade Sim Driver Verdict

The SIM was the model I had in mind before I began this review. But, dare i say, the SIM did exactly what it promised. The spin sometimes dropped too much for my lower swing speed.

But, the SIM Max’s true brilliance was in not catching one. I never got a high spinning shot (over 3000 rpm) and so my distance never dropped.

It was surprising that the mid-range driver performed so well, even though it had to be set to lower spin. The Inertia Generator at the back certainly added to the flight of the ball without effecting spin.

The Inertia Generator’s angle and shape made it difficult for me to see an increase in swing velocity. 20 degrees angle is the best I can find. You may see it in TaylorMade laboratories or at a club where DJ is playing the music “in the slots”, but I don’t think it has the same effect on everyone.

TaylorMade launched the TaylorMade new SIM driver series for 2020. First the lower spinning SIM then a more forgiving higher spinning SIM Max and a SIM Max D head to help draw the ball for those that need it.

We have seen the tour players using all three of the SIM drivers.

Would I Use It?

Absolutely. It’s beautiful looks, its distance and forgiveness are all reasons I would put it in my bag.

It will suit most golfers in my eyes and throughout the full SIM driver range Taylor. Made have produced an impressive outfit of models that I predict to do well both on tour and on the amateur market in 2020.
