They have extensive knowledge about the technology and also tested new clubs. If you are interested in purchasing new golf club, it is worth reading their experiences and learning from them.

For us to get their feedback and vote, as a company we first needed the proper sorting of irons into various categories. With 2017’s iron crop, we wanted to make the categories as easy as possible. We broke down irons into three categories.

Players Irons: Basically, small-sized irons. These irons have sleek top lines and soles. They prioritize distance control and workability, making them irons professionals would be proud to have in their bag.

Game-Improvement irons are generally medium-sized irons. This category includes a wide-range of clubs that blend distance, forgiveness, good looks and workability.

The Super Game-Improvement Irons are basically large-sized irons. These irons feature large-sized heads, broad soles, thick toplines and low centers of gravity. This is among many engineering feats that can be found in each company.

Notice: Due to the high supply of Players Irons, we split that category into Exotics Players Irons as well. Exotic Players Irons lists included irons made by companies such as Epon (fourteen), Miura, PXG, Honma and Miura that are not readily available to test in the U.S.

Taylormade P790 Udi Design

The UDI driving iron includes the Speed. Foam technology is an important feature in the P790 irons. It’s housed inside a hollow body and extends the range to a 2-iron set up to 17 degrees.

The unique Speed. Foam has two functions. One, it increases the ball’s speed and manages the feel of ball striking.

Speed. Foam is a unique technology, which features an ultra light urethane foam injected inside the head, has allowed the P790 irons to stand out from the crowd – particurly with this driving iron.

It is made from carbon steel and has a thin, forged 4140 head. TaylorMade Speed Pocket allows for greater ball speed and forgiveness with off-centre strikes.

The topline has been straightened and the club head made to look much cleaner, while the CG has been lowered by the presence of a new tungsten weight to produce a higher launch for added distance.

TaylorMade’s P790 UDI Verdict If driving irons or 2-irons are what you require, then the Ultimate Driving Iron might be the right club.

Rory Mc. and Jon Rahm all have UDIs. Ilroy and Jason Day among other people have seen the driving iron’s high-reputation since it was launched.

Taylormade P790 Udi Iron Review

TaylorMade P790-UDI iron is basically a 2-iron version the P790 Irons. It can be added to the set, or used as a separate driving iron.

UDI stands for Ultimate Driving Iron but most of the design is the same as the regular P790 irons as you have a cast 8620 carbon steel body that uses a high-strength forged 4140 carbon steel face cup that is wrapped around the front.

TaylorMade creates this hollow head, and fills it with Speed. Foam the hole in the heel.

The UDI head will sound stronger because of this.

Also built into the head is a tungsten weight in the back of the sole that adds weight to lower the CG and get it in the right position to create the best launch and maximise the MOI.

TaylorMade Speed Pocket is used on the sole to maximize ball speed. This pocket can be found especially at strikes that are lower than the face.

TaylorMade’s head, being slightly larger than P790 Long Irons standard, has allowed TaylorMade to shrink the variable face thickness or inverted cone. It is thinner at the edges to allow for greater ball speed.

This Testing Thread

We selected 75 people to try a TaylorMade M1 2017 7 iron and TaylorMade M2 7 iron. Each club was constructed with stock lofts with shafts M2 2017 (28.5″), M1 2017 (30.5″) with a TaylorMade Reax shaft. All testers were told to leave reviews about the clubs below. All posts were edited by us for clarity, conciseness and proper grammar.

What Does Udi Represent? Golf

Today, the company unveiled the UDI (pronounced “Ultimate Driving Iron”) club. This comes a day after Justin Rose won his second consecutive victory with this 2-iron model of the new club. UDI hollow iron designs feature a Carpenter 455 stainless steel face to increase ballspeed.

What Is The Most Forgiving Driving Iron?

Most Forgiving Option: TaylorMade SIM DHY The TaylorMade SIM DHY is probably the most unique option on the list, as it’s not quite a driving iron, but more of a driving hybrid. The SIM DHY offers the highest trajectory out of any of the options on this list, and is definitely the easiest to hit.

Can You Bend Sim Udi?

The adjustable hosel (which allowed loft and lie adjustments) found on the previous GAPR has been removed from this series. TaylorMade states that they expect SMI UDI orders to be custom-made and can bend loft/lie by up to 2deg.
