Tour Edge Exotics – C721 Driver Review

Tour Edge was founded in 1985. It has seen some notable successes in the game of golf and many firsts. However, the most important thing for many is what has happened in the past few years. This includes their PGA Tour Champions presence but also because they make clubs perform better.

Last year was a big one for Tour Edge and the Exotics line where the company saw sales successes the likes of which the company hadn’t seen before, particularly when it comes to driver. THP reviewed both EXS 220 EXS Pro drivers. In all honesty, I thought we’d seen the pattern of design that the company would use for years to come. It was a mistake.

All of this is turned on its head by the C721 driver. The C721 driver is an original design from the beginning that follows in the footsteps of impressively successful predecessors.

There is no evolutionary change here. The C721 represents yet another breakthrough for Tour Edge and the Exotics series. The C721 is the lowest-spinning driver on the market, yet it has a remarkable playability for its low RPM’s. This driver not only has the outside look, but also all the exotics’ sound, feel, forgiveness and sheer firepower you are used to. You should try this driver.

To be completely honest with you, Tour Edge and David Glod deserve a lot of credit for innovating and designing from the ground up. Tour Edge offers multiple options, but Exotics has always been an Exotics company. It is not afraid to be different in order to chase performance. The C721 driver is that simple.

Diamond Face 2.0, the EXS220 line’s only real design heirloom is its 2.0 version. There are now 7 types of thickness and 43 different diamonds backside the face, which can create variable thickness. Even more important is the 3×3 thickness of the original. Even more impressive is through material and design changes, Diamond Face 2.0 has actually reduced the perimeter thickness by 20% according to Tour Edge. Reduced thickness means more ball speed potential, and also more forgiveness particularly at the extremes of the face.

C721 also features an adjustable rear backweight. This optimizes the CG for easier launch and greater stability through an increase M.O.I. The weights will be available in 5g, 10g, 15g, and 18g options with 10g being standard in the driver.

Tour Edge Exotics C721 Driver review

You can’t go wrong with wallpaper and paint! It’s the perfect place to live in. The beautiful bay windows that overlook a picturesque view, the high-quality hardwood floors and the elegant decor are all reasons why you will love it. It’s only until you get there that you begin to see the problems. The paint and wallpaper effect.

This phenomenon has been seen in some instances while I was testing equipment for golf over the past few years. No matter what equipment it is, drivers or fairway metals are irrelevant. While a piece of new equipment may appear different in appearance, it is the exact same when it comes down to its performance.

Tour Edge Golf’s Exotics C721 line was released. These technical aspects made this driver appealing. They also piqued my interest, simply because Tour Edge Golf is constantly raising the bar.

Could the Exotics C721 new driver really be better than 2020’s Teezy Award winner Exotics EXS220? Do we expect to see genuine, worthwhile improvements or does this years product look more like paint and wallpaper?

***Editor’s Note: The Exotics C721 product range should not be confused with Tour Edge Golf’s Hot Launch C721 range of products that was launched in the late fall of 2020.

The setup Over the past three calendar years, Batavia, Illinois’ golf equipment manufacturer was on a roll. David Glod, their founder, has been making great, under-the-radar products for the company since 1986. However, I think the last three year have been an incredible time for the team. The company has set new sales records, and many people have seen their products being used by players.

Tour Edge Golf demonstrated in 2019 with the Exotics EXS line that it was possible to offer premium products using high-quality components, significant R&D and without having to charge a premium price. Come 2020, the brand improved from the prior year. The Exotics EXS 220 was very successful (it won a lot of Teezy Awards throughout it’s product range) and there was a very noticeable difference in terms of the acoustics thanks to their Sound Diffusion Bar (S.D. It is an audio technology which can be used in the recording studios, theaters, and concert halls to increase the quality of the sound. But it didn’t stop there. EXS Pro came out later in this season. The EXS Pro was still in Bernhard Langer’s bag at T-29, when the 2020 Masters Tournament took place in autumn 2020.

Tour Edge Exs Pro Driver Review

Many are sick of hearing Tour Edge’s exaggerated comments about how their Exotics offering with the EXS-220 and EXS 220 has been performing in terms of bang-for-buck. This is the part I will not go into. You haven’t paid attention if you don’t understand that part.

The EXS Pro lineup of clubs is, in my humble opinion, Tour Edge thumbing their noses at the people who continue to laud their recent releases but at the same time nit-pick them about their lack of presence when it comes to the low spin monsters which so many think they need. The truth is, you don’t know. It’s amazing to watch them swing like that.

Tour player-driven designs are focused on shot-making and low spin. You should be careful about what you ask for. The EXS Pro driver is unlike anything we have seen from Tour Edge when it comes to the big stick, so let’s dive in.

Quick Take Low spin. The EXS Pro is fast. EXS Pro’s average speed is 440cc. An excellent driver, which checks both the box of tech and tradition. This one has power, speed. sound. feel. and an incredible distance potential.

Tour Edge has given these EXS Pro offers the label “Straightfrom the Tour Van” Tour Edge is not like other companies who just throw the word “Pro” around freely. In order to fully understand the wants and needs of their PGA Tour Champions members when it came to getting their clubs in their bags, their entire EXS Pro range was designed in partnership with them. David Glod felt that they achieved something exceptional, so some of their special things were more appropriate.

Now the question is how do they get to them, or if they need to go out. We are not talking about designs, which, unlike the highly acclaimed EXS 220 line (check out the THP reviews on driver fairway), were not designed with the most skill level in mind. What to do? How about releasing 1,000 pieces each of the Pro driver, fairways, hybrids, irons, and wedges. Tour Edge used some good inventory management skills to keep products in stock while keeping them under control.

Tour Edge EXS Professional Driver. After having reviewed the EXS 220 in THP’s review, and being impressed by the design, my ears perked up when Tour Edge announced that a smaller spinning, 440cc model was coming out. On a personal level, the 220 produced speed on par with anything I’ve hit this season, but from a personal fit, the spin was a little higher than I wanted to see. It was impossible to deny the incredible potential of this bike.
