Engenius Enmesh Wholehome Wi-Fi Network (Emr3000-Kit).

Check out our EnGenius EnMesh Whole Home Wi-Fi Systems (EMR3000-Kit). Each node has a quad-core CPU and 4GB flash memory. There is also 512MB RAM. Six Wi-Fi antennas are included, including a Zigbee antenna and a Bluetooth antenna. There is also a Wi-Fi radio with two 5GHz frequencies, as well as two radios that use 2.4GHz Wi Fi. One of the 5GHz bands is a dedicated backhaul band used for node-to-node data transmissions, but the system can utilize the other two bands for on-demand backhaul when the need arises.

The Deco M9 is equipped with an AC2200 system and can achieve maximum data links speeds of 400Mbps in the 2.4GHz band, and 867Mbps each for the five GHz bands. The only thing you can do is use band-steering, and the radio bands cannot be separated. System supports multi-user multiple input multiple output (MUMIMO) data streaming. This allows data to be transmitted to compatible clients concurrently rather than sequentially. Beamforming also works, sending data directly to clients and not over a wide range of frequencies.

The M9 Plus makes use of its multiple wireless radios in order to control and connect home automation devices, such as Kwikset smart lock locks.

smart lights from TP-Link, Cree, Philips, and GE; smart switches from TP-Link and Centralite; and numerous sensors, including motion sensors, door/window sensors, and water leak detectors from companies such as SmartThings and Securifi. Nest thermostats as well as Nest Protect Smoke/CO detectors will be controlled. The Z-Wave radio included with the Samsung Connect Home AC1300 Wi-Fi System is not available. However, you can use Amazon Alexa voice commands and IFTTT applets for your smart connected devices to work with other smart smart devices. To turn your lights on or off when an Uber vehicle arrives at your door, or to make your lights switch colors for a win by your favorite sports team, an applet could be made.

Similar to the Deco M5, M9 Plus includes Trend Micro-powered homeCare. This is similar to Ai Protection you receive with the Asus Lyra Trio. Both offer malware and virus protection and will automatically quarantine infected devices before they get a chance to infect your network, and both offer excellent parental controls with website filtering and access scheduling. TP-Link HomeCare can last three years without you having to pay an additional annual subscription, while AiProtection will be available for a lifetime.

The TP-Link Deco mobile app is a well-designed app that can be used to control everything. The Overview screen displays the name of your network and an internet icon: Tap the icon to see the status of each node (online, offline) and check their overall health. Below the internet icon are Antivirus and Parental Controls buttons. Clicking the AntiVirus button will take you to an interface where you can turn on the Intrusion Prevention System. This scans for potential vulnerabilities and prevents them from being exploited by outside attackers.

Tapping the Parental Controls button takes you to a screen where you can create user profiles and assign Filter Levels (Child, Pre-Teen, Teen, Adult) to each user. Each level offers a different degree of protection: For example, the Child level blocks access to sites that contain adult content, gambling, sex education, social networking, games, and more.

What is The TpLink DecoM9 Mesh Wi–Fi System?

Thank goodness those days are long gone where you were forced to endure Wi-Fi blackspots at home. No more screams from the corner of your bedroom about how one family member’s streaming services has crashed again. The latest Mesh Wi-Fi system options are available from the major players, such as Google Linksys (BT), Netgear (TP-Link), and BT. They can be tailored to fit any budget or home size.

Our October 2018 review of the Netgear Orbi RBK23 WiFi system included three units. The coverage was sufficient to support a large residence. Winning our AVForums Recommended Award, it offered excellent performance with a decent specification. This is another Mesh Wi-Fi System, from TP-Link’s Deco Range.

Deco’s Mesh Wi Fi System Deco M9 Plus Mesh Wi Fi is for PS280. The system includes two Tri-Band AC2200 units each, with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports. Together they create a mesh network of up to 4500 square foot. Capable of connecting over 100 devices and acting as a Smart Hub thanks to Zigbee, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi interaction, it offers a good set of features, but is it worth the money? We test it ……

Tplink Deco M9 plus Review: Smart Wi-Fi with Some Cool Home Tricks

While wireless mesh Wi Fi is the most effective way to obtain strong signals throughout your house, the number of mesh systems doing exactly the same thing makes it difficult to make a decision.

Which is why it’s nice to see something a bit different in the TP-Link Deco M9 Plus.

Similar to its predecessor, Deco M5, M9 Plus doesn’t only focus on getting wireless everywhere. But it also focuses on building a smart house with Zigbee/Bluetooth.

New to this version is tri-band wireless, giving a dedicated 5GHz backhaul for the connection between satellites to create more performance.

How does it compare to our current smart home mesh champion, Samsung SmartThings ? Read on for our review.

Tplink Deco M9 Plus Price and Competition Review

At a launch price of PS350, the Deco M9 Plus is the most expensive mesh networking system we’ve reviewed.

Zyxel’s Multy X system provides similar coverage, but for PS100 less. A three-pack of TP Link DecoM5 discs will cost you just PS200. For as little as PS189, you can get the three-node BT Whole Home WI-FI extender system.

The Deco M9 Plus is a superior product to all its competitors due to the built-in Smart-Home Hub. Performance, however, is also excellent. However, these features come at a significant premium.

Tp-Link Deco M9 Plus Review: Performance

As I have already mentioned, Deco M9 Plus boasts an extra radio to match the M5, as well as eight antennae in each disc. That’s twice the amount of the M5. The Deco M9 Plus kit should offer better performance. In practice, however, I was happy with its speed. When I sent 100MB files over the wireless network to test file copy, the same-room speed was 24MB/sec. This is the highest I have seen for any mesh system.

Moreover, Deco worked flawlessly as I ventured outside my living room into the remote parts of my home. The Deco system was very responsive when I moved up to the upstairs bedroom. My test laptop connected automatically to the secondary Deco server that I placed in central kitchen. It then gave me an excellent 24MB/sec download rate. The Deco network provided me with a speedy 19MB/sec even in my bathroom, which I usually get only 1.6MB/sec from my regular router.

Photo 3 of 3

My laptop has a weak transmitter so upstream speeds are slower. I was still able to get a speedy 11MB/sec from my living room, and 10MB/sec somewhere else.

Deco’s coverage was so impressive that I wanted to check if it could even reach the outside terrace of my house. The technical answer was no, but it did give me a good idea of the quality. However, download speeds were slow at 1.4MB/sec. It was possible to move the second node backwards to get a faster 4MB/sec connection, however speeds in the bedroom were much slower at only 5MB/sec. and 8MB/sec.

The Deco M9 Plus Nodes can fill a moderate-sized house with Wi-Fi. However, if you need to reach the greatest area, you will have to accept a decrease in performance.

TP Link Deco M9 Plus reviews: Verdict. This mesh network system, which includes smart-home controls as well as built-in antivirus, is among the fastest. These superlatives are not cheap, but they will be worthwhile for many. People who already have hundreds of connected appliances and sensors will no doubt be excited to spend the extra money on a system that integrates all their devices.

Cons

Less than 10 Ethernet ports

– No USB port

TP-Link’s Deco M5 was their first model to join the mesh network space. The Deco M5 debuted in 2017. Our review praised its small art deco design as well as the ease of use via an integrated smartphone app. Unfortunately, the product also suffered from lower bandwidth due to a lower priority of gaming traffic during our testing. As a result, our benchmark gaming scores were lower. While the Deco M5 truly mesh design is impressive, there was no dedicated backhaul solution.

Fast forward to 2018 and TP-Link’s second attempt in mesh router technology is now available. TP-Link is moving forward with a pure Mesh design and keeps its’style contemporary’ Art Deco design language in their new Deco M9 Plus model mesh router. These specs are available:

802.11ac Ac2200 Tri-band 2.4 GHz 400 Mbps 5 GHz-1 867Mbps 5 GHz-2 867Mbps

Dedicated backhaul via the second 5 GHz signal

An integrated smart hub that integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee radios

Tp Link Deco Plus Review: Triband Mesh Wifi system

Mesh WiFi systems enjoy increasing popularity. This is the most effective way to get great WiFI coverage in your whole home. This is achieved by having multiple WiFi access points working together to blanket your home with WiFi coverage.

TP-Link Deco M9Plus, a triple-band mesh WIFI system is available. This system differs from the dual-band Deco M5 WiFI system. This third band can be used to backhaul the mesh WiFi network. This will effectively reduce the load on the fronthaul network, leading to way higher mesh WiFi speed the badwidth aren’t shared.

In this article, we will be reviewing the twin pack Deco M9 Plus mesh wireless system which currently retail at RM899. TP-Link says this is good up to 4500 square feet. There’s also a triple pack system available at RM1359. The twin pack is recommended and you can purchase the other units separately if necessary.

The Good And The Bad

Bathing every room in your home with beautiful wireless internet is the objective of a mesh system, but it’s not the only thing it can do. Nest WiFi and Deco M9 Plus both have smart speaker and mobile app functionality that will give you more bang for the buck.

Nest WiFi nodes, however not routers can be turned into smart speakers by Google Nest. Google Assistant will give you weather information if asked. This assistant can also control the devices that you’ve connected to it, similar to a Nest speaker. You can also command the Google Home app to play music. You will also need the app to setup Nest WiFi. My review from last year noted that the setup process takes just minutes and is fairly painless.

Nest WiFi achieves its goals in terms of speed and performance. Nest WiFi solved my problem. My home is notoriously difficult to connect to WiFi networks. The only problem with it is a near-total lack of Ethernet ports, as the main router only has one free port and the nodes have none at all. Nest WiFi can only be used wirelessly.

This is not the case with TP-Link’s mesh setup. The nodes and routers are physical identical. Each one is equipped with two Ethernet ports. The routers and nodes require an app to setup and manage smart connected devices. Additionally, the app supports Alexa. I haven’t personally tested it, but PCMag spoke very highly of the app in its review . It was rated as one of the top mesh systems in 2020.

This device apparently recognises compatible devices, such as smart thermostats and can be used to control them without difficulty. PCMag also gave the Deco M9 Plus an excellent rating for performance. The review noted that it was strong from 30 feet away. Because each node includes ethernet port, it is possible to also use wired connections to clean up your WiFi signal.
