Wyze Announces A $20 Smartwatch With Nine Day Battery Life
Wyze is a smart home brand best known for their range of affordable internet-connected security cameras. Now, Wyze has unveiled its first smartwatch. Wyze Watches will come in sizes 46mm and 47mm in the US when they ship in February 2021. The watch is priced as low at $20 like all the other products in their lineup. Wyze announced this announcement after the launch of its first fitness tracker, The $25 Wyze Band, earlier in the year.
The watch will ship with a fairly standard selection of smartwatch features, including blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate tracking, an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, nine-day battery life, activity and sleep tracking, and integration with Google Fit and Apple Health. Wyze has promised that the watch can integrate with Wyze’s devices and will offer shortcuts so you can control its smart bulbs. The watch can display notifications so you can read previews of emails and text messages. However, Wyze has not stated which mobile operating system the watch is compatible with.
This 47mm watch comes with a 1.75 inch screen.
The Wyze Watch should be shipping in February.
According to specs, the Wyze Watch 44mm has a 1.75-inch LCD display and a 260mAh rechargeable battery. A 47mm version comes with a 1.75-inch LCD screen and a 300mAh lithium battery. Each has 16MB storage. Both provide GPS tracking as well support for voice assistants.
Wyze’s debut smartwatch is priced at $20, which makes it hard for me to imagine Wyze beating Samsung or Apple. If the WyzeWatch can live up to its modest claims of offering a functional, simple experience, it could be an appealing first smartwatch.

Wyze Watch44 Review: Buggy Watch Not Worth $20

The Wyze Watch is a smartwatch like nothing we’ve ever seen. This smartwatch costs only $19.99, even lower than our 2021 Wyze Band review. Wyze Watch is a smartphone-based device that provides notifications for activity, sleep, heart rate, and more. It also includes blood oxygen monitoring.
For this price there is no competition. You can get an Amazfit Bip U Pro for PS60, which we gave a 4-star review in January. The Wyze Watch does not have GPS or Alexa. It also has 60 sport profiles.
Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite retails for PS50 in UK. It is unavailable in US. The specs of the Mi Watch Lite are similar to those found on the Bip U Pro. Other than that, you’ll be paying over PS100 for something like the Huawei Watch GT2e , which has Wear OS and takes you into a different category altogether.
Amazfit neo, which retails at PS34.99, offers decent fitness monitoring in retro Casio cases. However, it’s not a full-screen smartwatch like the Wyze.
Wyze Watch stands out, although it’s only currently available in the US. Its performance is it sufficient to warrant the cost? Are you still paying too much for it at the same price as before?
Wyze acknowledged that there are several bugs in its software. We’ll be discussing them throughout. It is planned to update the software. The company is also sending us the larger Wyze Watch 47 as it plans a relaunch of the Wyze Watch 44 in the coming weeks. We’ll update the review as soon as possible.
Attractive Design

Clearly modeled on the Apple Watch, with a rectangular display set into a grey aluminum-alloy case, you would never guess that the Wyze Watch is just $20 by looking at it. It feels light on the wrist (the 44mm model is 40 grams) and comes with a comfortable black silicone band that feels quite durable. It has a single button that brings up the screen and allows you to quickly get to the home screen.
This touchscreen uses a TFT LCD. The touchscreen is a TFT LCD. It is sharp and colorful and easily read indoors. However, it struggles with direct sunlight and must be adjusted manually. While the 47mm model has a display that stretches almost to the rounded edges, the 44mm screen has large bezels above and below that detract from the look. The large bezels above and below the screen are easily mistaken for Apple Watches from distance. But, they quickly dispel any impression of an Apple Watch up close.
While it falls well short of the reassuring quality of even Apple’s cheapest offering, the Apple Watch SE , that’s to be expected. A better comparison is the Amazfit GTS, which offers a higher quality AMOLED screen, detailed tracking and more features, while still costing $100 less than the Wyze Watch.
Except for the 44mm model’s bezels and exterior design, nothing about the watch’s exterior design reveals its budget status. While I didn’t encounter any problems during my testing, durability and longevity may pose a problem in the long-term (it’s $20).
Fitness And Sleep Tracking

Wyze Watch is limited in its fitness and sleep monitoring capabilities. The Wyze Watch automatically tracks your steps and calculates calories burned. A heart rate sensor is required to be activated manually. But, you can change its settings so that it will continue to monitor your progress at a cost of some battery. An Sp02 sensor measures blood oxygen levels.
You must tap on the “Sports” icon in order to track workouts. It doesn’t automatically track. The Wyze Watch categorizes everything as a run, though it can recognize an indoor run versus an outdoor run. Although the watch does not have GPS nor any route record, it will estimate your distance, monitor your heartbeat, and track your duration. Wyze’s app allows you to look at the data and see that the workouts have been broken down into heart-rate zones. They cover heat up, cooldown, fat reduction and cardio.
Wearing the Wyze Watch while you sleep is automatically tracked. It records your sleep time, breaks it into short and long periods of light, and highlights times when you awake.
These data are not very precise. Comparing it with the Apple Watch SE Scanwatch, I discovered that the Wyze Watch tends to underestimate my steps, heart beat, sleep hours, and calories. Variations between 10-20 percent in smartwatch algorithms are not uncommon.
Whether the lack of accuracy matters depends on you. You can track your basic fitness goals and do not need any data. If you’re happy enough with a rough measure and broad trends, then the Wyze Watch delivers.
Long Battery Life

Wyze suggests you can get up to nine days of battery life from a fully charged Wyze Watch and my experience chimes with that. You can cut the battery life by half if you activate continuous heart rate monitoring and receive a lot more notifications.
The features here are not as extensive as other smartwatches. I also didn’t like the fact that the display wasn’t always on, but the longer battery life was still a plus. The Apple Watch Series 6/6 and Apple Watch SE both have a rating of 18 hours. They are, however, much more feature-rich and perform better.
The Wyze Watch was worn for 8 days. It’s waterproof up to 2 meters and can be submerged for 30 minutes. I charged the Wyze Watch at 10%. Your WyzeWatch comes with a magnet charging cable, as well as a USB-A USB-A connector that can plug in to any existing phone charger.
Smart Home Controls, and Other Add-Ons

Even though the Wyze Watch has a small feature list, it does offer one nice surprise in the form of smart home control shortcuts. Wyze devices can only use this feature. But I was still able, using my Wyze Watch, to program my Wyze smart lights to turn on or shut off via my wrist. It proved more efficient than using my iPhone’s app.
Wyze Watch has stretch reminders that remind you to move around and get up off the computer every 50 minutes. We were not able test the cycle track option, which helps women monitor their periods. I did not mention the alarm or timer functions, nor the option to see the current weather forecast.
Introduction
You would be shocked at how much you’d pay for this product if I said it featured fitness tracking, a heart-rate monitor, IP68 water resistance, iOS, Android and iOS support.
What does $20 look like?
This is my review of the Wyze Watch, an absurdly priced smart watch. My Apple Watch is only $800. These Wyze Watches are cheaper than one Apple Watch. Although there are more affordable Apple Watches available, this Apple Watch SE is only 1/14th as expensive.
Even though I could extol the Apple Watch’s superior design and UI, the subject of this review isn’t going to focus on it. For most users, the Apple Watch offers far greater capabilities, a better quality build, and a much better user experience.
Now let’s look at what the Wyze Watch costs for just $20.
Notifications On Your Wyze Watch
Wyze Watch is a connected watch that connects to your mobile phone. It displays your app notifications previews. Once enabled, notifications such as texts and phone calls will appear right on your wrist.
You can get notifications from the most popular apps like Facebook, WeChat Google Maps, and others.

Smartwatch Wyze $20
There are many other features on the smartwatch, like blood oxygen monitoring, heartrate tracking tool and efficient IP68 dust resistance rating. It also has nine days of battery life. It can also integrate and sync with Google Fit and Apple Health smart tools. Wyze will be available on the smartwatch as well.
Wyne also promises that the device will support shortcuts that will enable users to control products like the Wyne smart bulbs. It will show notifications that go beyond allowing you to check your email and read any text.
In terms of the specifications, the 44mm variant Wyze Watch comes with a 1.4-inch LCD, a resolution of 320 x 320, and a powerful 260mAh battery. It will also have a 47mm LCD. Both variants will have 16MB of storage. However, they wouldn’t support GPS tracking or any voice assistants.

If the smartwatch can deliver the best performance and a functional experience, then the Wyze Watch will be an attractive first smartwatch. The Wyze Watch has been preordered.

Wyne lost out on the GPS capability from the smartwatch to lower the price. According to the company, “The loss on GPS tracking allowed us create an efficient low priced smartwatch that outperforms” and does many functions better than most.
Wyze designed the new smartwatch to better track fitness. The Wyne smartwatch, like other smartwatches has sensors that measure blood oxygen saturation, heart rate and steps.
